GASP is a social and support service for young people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning their sexuality. GASP holds support groups for young people who are same sex attracted or questioning their sexuality. Research indicates the positive impact peer support groups can have on the mental health and wellbeing of same sex attracted young people. Group membership leads to an increase in friendships and support and a reduction in isolation and alienation that is a direct result of homophobia. The group offers young people a chance to meet other young people who might be experiencing the same things. It runs throughout the year and has benefited many young people.
